Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
This 6-module distance learning course provides a comprehensive introduction to cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), exploring both cognitive-behavioural theory and many practical CBT techniques. It is suitable both for experienced counsellors who would like to develop their skills in CBT, as well as other caring professionals who would like to use CBT in their work. The course makes an ideal addition to a professional development programme.
Subjects covered include: defining CBT; CBT theory and practice; applications; CBT for depression and anxiety; identifying serious disorder; boundaries and referral; CBT and anger management; stress management; professional practice; continuing professional development; national occupational standards and CBT.
The course fee includes all required course material, course book, An Introduction to Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, extensive supplementary reading, and full tutorial support. Students have up to three years to complete this course, allowing them to work through the modules at their own pace. On average, however, it takes students around 6 – 8 months to complete the course, based on 4 – 5 hours study time per week.
