Business Start-up Programme

Our Business Start-up Programme offers a unique combination of business training with support from an experienced business mentor.

This is a comprehensive, 6-module programme taking you step-by-step through your business start-up, from initial idea to launch, and beyond. Course includes all course material, full tutorial support with an expert tutor/mentor and course book The Complete Small Business Guide, by Colin Barrow.

Study topics include: exploring business opportunities; selecting your business model; market research; motivation, getting to know your customer base; the role of advertising, marketing and PR; an on-line presence; creating a business plan; small business management; sources of funding; financial forecasting; product development; small business and the law; networking; future forecasts; sources of advice, information and further training

Business Start-up ensures that during the early months of your business launch you will be supported by an experienced business mentor who can provide effective feedback, advice and support. At the same time, you will be developing essential new business skills with the help of your Learning Curve course.

The programme can be studied entirely from home in your own time and is designed to be flexible. The programme runs over 6 months, ensuring that you have full tutorial support during the early months of your business. It includes:

• One study module and assignment each month (assignments have a practical focus, guiding you through the development, launch and early days of your business)
• A one hour in-depth mentoring session with your business mentor each month. For this session you can choose email, telephone or instant chat. During this module you will agree a number of definite weekly and monthly goals with your mentor designed to progess your business start-up quickly.
• Unlimited email contact with your business mentor/tutor for the period of your course.

Students who successfully complete this course are awarded a Learning Curve Certificate of Course Completion.
